Bushcraft on the Reserve

Hello again, Sorry for our blogging absence over the past couple of months, we have been busy working out on the reserve and with our wonderful local community, getting out and about in the surrounding area to meet you all. If you have not heard from us yet then drop us an email or a call and tell us about your local group and how we can work together to enjoy the incredible nature and the green space we have here at Sandwell Valley Nature Reserve.

Let me tell you about a little event we set up recently...

Swinging from tree to tree and dancing round fires... well not quite but the children from a local youth club had a great time at RSPB Sandwell Valley with an ex-army bush craft instructor. On two summers evenings in July a group of children attended a bush craft event organised by the RSPB Sandwell Valley team. They had a fantastic time learning how to camouflage themselves against the landscape, built on team working skills using a nightline and learning how to survive when left in the wilds. ‘Action-packed’, ‘exciting’ and ‘mind-blowing’ were a few of the words the kids used to describe the event and we certainly enjoyed having them on the reserve and making the most of the natural space we have here at RSPB Sandwell Valley.

Bursting with wildlife Sandwell Valley nature reserve is a wonderful place to come and relax after a busy day, to bring the kids to explore nature or to go for a run away from the buzz of the city. If you’d like to hear more we can come to you and either have a chat or give a presentation to your group on what’s here at Sandwell Valley Nature Reserve. Contact us on 0121 357 7395 or email sandwellvalley@rspb.org.uk.

Thanks for reading keep watch for next weeks post about other activities and events we do here and in the mean time come and chill out here at RSPB Sandwell Valley.
